Hermès at Work Windows with Thai Graffiti artist Mue Bon

EVENT

To celebrate Hermès at Work in Australia, I was flown down to Melbourne to document nine Hermès métiers at work as well as the unveiling of Thai Graffiti artist, Mue Bon's artwork. Bon curated the art space on Collins Street in Melbourne over three nights from 6:00pm until midnight. I was lucky enough to watch the unveiling of his final artwork at 10:00am on March 7th.

Much of Bon's inspiration comes from the community and the streets. Unaware of the popularity of the street art movement in other parts of the world, Mue started to leave his mark on the streets of Thailand through various characters including 'The Bird.'

You can now spot this characther around the streets  and laneways of Melbourne.

HERMÈS AT WORK

From the 8th to 17th March 2018, Town Hall will host "Hermès At Work", an itinerant celebration of craftsmanship first created in 2011. I was delighted to meet nine various Hermès métiers and discovered what being a 'craftsperson' actually involved. It was a magical experience seeing these talented craftspeople whose hands are able to turn materials into bags, saddles, silk squares, jewllery, watches, gloves and more. I later learnt that a silk scarf takes up to two years to create!

Celebrating the artists behind the brand and sharing their expertise, experience and passion was truly such a special experience. I enjoyed the thorough round-table discussions, light canapés and meeting all the different craftspeople.
